CELINE

 Photos by Zahra A.

(Peplum top & pants: Zara/ Loafer Heels: Alexander Wang/ Necklace & bracelet: Forever 21)

If you've been following me on various social media platforms, such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (and if you aren't, I have to question my spamming skills considerably), then you are well aware that last week I underwent surgery and am now in recovery period.

Last Tuesday, I underwent a Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy. Yes, it's just as dangerous as it sounds.

But in laymen terms, I basically had my lower jaw drilled, all of my bones broken, moved into a lateral position, and had metal plates inserted. My jaw is  now wired shut for 8 weeks, and I am to survive solely on foods of the liquid variety (see: air) during this period. Thus, I seek solace by conjuring mental monologues vis a vis this blog of mine. In short, I currently resemble Don Zimmer (after the fight with Pedro) and the swelling has caused my face to be engulfed by the infinite number of chins that have formed. I'm actually tracking my progress by the number of chins I lose every day. 3 down, 7 more to go!

But seriously guys, a handful of you have sent me some very warm messages (I measured with a thermometer!) that truly touched me. I am beyond humbled with your kind words of support, which render this difficult recovery a little more tolerable. So thank you, and in return I bestow you with some pictures to look at (obviously taken well before the surgery) because I'm too drugged up on morphine to even curate a text surrounding my outfit, and if my thermometer 'joke' is any proof, my humor gland has completely shut off.

Ok. Bye.

  1. No, don't say it's a worst post ever...every surgery is difficult and yours particularly doesn't sound like a walk in the park...but it does get better and you'll probably be feeling at least a little bit better in no time.

Beautiful photographs...white pants and leather somehow really go so well together.

  11. I wonder what you purchased at Celine? Your sleeveless leather top is so chic. I just had Gall Bladder surgery a few weeks ago and was on liquid food. I am now on light food and my stomach is still adjusting to all the food and drinks. I understand how you feel about the recovery. I hope you will feel better soon and the pain will go away eventually. Take care, Pamela

  33. Oh honey I know exactly what you're going through. I went through my jaw surgery and only liquids deal this March and April and I wish you the best of luck! I hope as time goes by you can drink thicker liquids and can try to be creative with different flavors and ingredients or at least keep your mind busy and preoccupied so you're not thinking of food; it's tough but time will go fast if you're busy or like me, watching every season of The Office on Netflix :P

  46. I thought I'd need to have that surgery done as well, after seeing a number of doctors (my spine went crooked in three places causing my jaw to go.. to the right) but somehow I found a doc who said that my jaw could be repaired with braces (of the ugly variety duuuh) which is why I never smile on my pictures (although I want to, badddllllyyy).
This is why it's fair to say I can get your pain (minus the morphine, don't know how that feels) - the fear beforehand and the weird pain after. Hold on tight! Also - why did you need to have it done? Here's to hoping it heals quickly.

At this point, I am not going to comment on the outfit (I mean it's spectacular as ever) but I feel your health is more important at this very moment.

Also we're not following each other on twitter? That's crazy. I am to repair this damage RIGHT NOW! x

  47. Oh my I had no idea the extent of said surgery. Broken bones eeeeek darling I would be screaming propitiates through all social media so I applaud the restraint on your part. I hope you feel better soon though I realize there's still a few more weeks ahead yet, hopefully you won't have to suffer too much and we are all here for you if you need, just hola out via one of those social streams!

This is such a bummer, but on the other hand, maybe you'll come up with a BRILLIANT idea in the meantime? Know exactly what you mean about mental monologues. Hit us hard with those witty words.

Please - take care. Recovery's a bummer, but it does at least force you to relax for just a little while. Enjoy some milkshakes and watch some good shows!! If you have Netflix, try Orange is the New Black. It's addiction.
